City and Colour, free our souls!

Dallas Green and his crew popped into Halifax tonight to free our souls! Honestly, I have never really listened to this band before. Maybe a few songs here and there, but I’ve never taken the time to listen to a whole album. I regret that after seeing and hearing what I did tonight. The emotion that you feel when they play their music is just uncontrollably beautiful. All you can do is smile because you know you are hearing some of the greatest music ever written and played. At least, that’s how I felt.
Most people just focus on Dallas Green. Now yeah, he is attractive, amazingly talented, and has a really cool personality… but have you ever thought to watch or listen to the other band members? Nothing against Dallas, he is genius, but when you watch the bass player for instance. The connection he has with that pounding bombombombom is strangely amusing. Almost unrealistic. It’s like each note is a high, yet hes still with us nonetheless. You may be asking, how does this work? Well my dear, this is what we call a real musician. Someone who does what they are doing because they are actually good at it, and they love what they do. We are not talking about Taylor Swift here… these people are fucking real, raw talent.

After I’m done writing this, I am going to indulge in City and Colour. I mean, what else is there to do? I was completely moved and inspired by that whole hoe-down in Grand Parade tonight.

I would like to give a shout out to Dallas Green. If you are reading this, this part is for you..
I honestly can’t believe how unprofessional Dallas Green was. Like, omg. I just can’t even understand. Like, he would just like totally stop and tune his guitar. Omg, what kind of singer does that? It’s so fucking unprofessional. God. Like seriously.
Actually, to be completely honest with you.. I like it when a musician stops and has to tune their guitar. It makes them that much more real. Everyone thinks that famous people are made out of plastic; and when it all comes down to it.. some are. But people like the guys in City and Colour are what we call pure Human.

The -7 freezing cold didn’t hold us Haligonians back from letting loose and smoking weed! God, l don’t think I’ve ever smelt that much pot in my life. I wonder if the guys on stage could smell it? HAHAHAH.

I’m sorry for jumping around so much with my City and Colour stories. It’s just that there was so much! Here are the five things I’ve learned from this show.
-Dallas Green is obsessed with corny movies. // Three times he asked everyone about these movies. Then he went on rants about these movies. It was great.
-Dallas Green and the bass player seem to be good friends. // They were always talking and laughing with each other. It was really nice.
-Halifax loves weed. // self explanatory.
-A lot of people know what real music is. // I was surprised to find that out… but I’m sure we had a few JB lovers.
-Minus 7, slush/snow, no heat, outdoors = block feet. // Yeah, my feet felt like they were huge blocks of ice.

Anyways, as usual.. my blog was jumbled and had no particular subject. WELL, CITY AND COLOUR OF COURSE!! AHG. But yano, I always jump around from subject to subject. I guess that’s just my nature.
Good night young and old folks. Sleep tight, and please tell me you have no bed bugs.
Lindsay
